This How-To describes new functions and workflows that are only available in enforePOS 2. This version is exclusively available to customers participating in the enforePOS 2 Early Access program.
You have taken an order and do not settle the order directly, for example because your customer decides not to buy the sales item, or another order is taken before the first order is settled? This creates an open order in enforePOS that you can park. In this How-To, we explain how to park an open order and which details you can enter for an open order.
In the following example, we describe the process for an Over the Counter scenario.
Depending on the settings you have made for your edition in the POS menu under More > [Name of your cash register] at the top right > General tab > Customer assignment or Tags assignment area, you must enter various details for the open orders either when leaving the order or during the ordering process.
If you have set customer assignment to be Optional or Mandatory, you can select a customer when providing details.
If you have set that customer assignment is Not Allowed, you will not be able to select a customer when providing details.
In the context of settling an order in the cash register, optional means that you are free to select a customer or not. Mandatory means that you must select a customer to settle the order.
You can find more information on this in the How-To Settings for the enforePOS for Retail edition or Settings for the enforePOS for Restaurants edition.
If you have set the assignment of a tag to be optional or mandatory, you can select a tag when providing details.
If you have set that tag assignment is not allowed, you will not be able to select a tag when providing details.
In the context of settling an order in the cash register, optional means that you are free to select a tag or not. Mandatory means that you must select a tag to settle the order.
You can find more information on this in the How-To Settings for the enforePOS for Retail edition or Settings for the enforePOS for Restaurants edition.
If you now leave the order, the information you have entered here will be transferred when you park the order.
In a restaurant scenario where orders are taken from the floor plan, it is rather uncommon to park orders manually. This is because open orders are created automatically mainly when an order is accepted, then produced at the production location, for example, and only settled at the end. However, there are cases in which an order is parked manually, e.g. if no table has been assigned to an order in advance. This happens, for example, when an order is taken from the open orders instead of the floor plan. We describe this scenario in the following steps.
